Municipalities within the Park: Vistabella del Maestrazgo, Villahermosa del Río, Xodos
The Penyagolosa Natural Park, situated in the municipal districts of Vistabella del Maestrazgo, Xodos and Villahermosa del Río, is a prime geographical landmark and cultural reference deeply embedded in Valencian folklore. With an area of 1,094.45 hectares it is home to Sant Joan de Penyagolosa mountain, which is accessible to the public. Its highest peak, at 1814 m, is considered the roof of the Valencian Region par excellence.
The Tinença de Benifassà Natural Park extends over an area of 4,967.548 hectares, including the 25,814 affected by the natural resources management Plan, and is situated in the historic district of the same name and in the district of Vallibona. The rivers Sénia and Cervol (also known as Les Corses rivers) run through the park, meandering through the last spurs of the Iberian mountain range.
Municipalities within the Park: of the 19 municipalities it embraces, 11 have the whole of their territory within the boundaries of the park (Aín, Alcudia de Veo, Almedíjar, Azuébar, Chóvar, Eslida, Fuentes de Ayódar, Higueras, Pavías, Torralba del Pinar and Villamalur) while the other 8 (Alfondeguilla, Algimia de Almonacid, Artana, Ayódar, Matet, Suera, Tales and Vall de Almonacid) are partially inside the park’s limits.
